Fun-Park, Bellevue, Limoges

An amusement park for small children. Great fun and lots of rides and bouncy casteles. Small train takes you around the park, there is a small boating lake with motorised bumber-boats, water flume (height restricted) an octopus and a small animal park too. Great fun day out for smaller children.

Aquapolis is a recently opened Water park in Limoges. With olympic size swimming pools, many smaller leisure pools, saunas, jacuzzis, massage rooms and a gym, this centre provides a fantastic indoor Aquatic complex to rival Nautilis in Angouleme. Prices at present are Eu 5.30 for adults and Eu 4.20 for under 14’s. (Under 3’s free).

Chocolatier at Trois Palis (50km)

There is a small, privately owned chocolatier in Trois Palis, just outside Angouleme, Poitou-Charentes. One of the staff will take you on a guided tour to show how all the different types of chocolate, nougat and sugar-based confectionery is made. Sampling is encouraged! Ferme de Javernac (8km)

This dairy farm is open to the public and produces organic yogurts, white cheese and creme fraiche. Yum! Using traditional methods and their herd of 140 cows in 200 hectares this farm shop is well worth a visit for organic, traditionally made dairy products.

Oradour Sur Glane

This is the martyred World War II village. On 10th June 1944 as the allies were advancing through northern France and more and more German units were being moved north, being fearful of a strong rear-guard action by the French resistance, the Waffen SS rounded up 642 men, women and children in this peaceful (non-resistance) town and brutally put them to death by fire and arms.
